Mikaela Whalen '21 Recruiting Profile

I am Mikaela Whalen.  I am passionate, positive, persistent & coachable.  Oh yeah, and there is basketball where I have speed, agility, defense (I set the school record for most steals in a single game, 10) and scoring ability (I finished the school season second in scoring [301 points] as a sophomore on a veteran varsity team that graduated 5 seniors).

I am passionate about the game of basketball.  I have been playing some sort of organized basketball since I was in kindergarten playing in the rec league and began playing all year round by the third grade with a local team. I have been learning the game every step of the way and having fun doing it.

On my high school team, I have always been one of the shortest (5’ 8”) and quickest players.  I have played most of the time at either point guard or shooting guard.  On my current traveling team (Victory Ministries) I am one of the tallest and found myself playing all positions 1 thru 4 and sometimes even center. I am still learning that inside game.

Away from basketball I keep busy and in shape by playing volleyball in the fall and soccer in the spring. I am on the varsity team on both.  I finished my sophomore year in soccer by making the All Conference, All District & All Region teams.  I love the atmosphere of team sports and the relationships that I have with all my teammates.

Am I perfect? No.  Do I still need work?
