Academically I want to maintain good grades and be as prepared as possible for a career in physical therapy. My mom and dad have pushed me daily to better myself and help others around me. I live on a small farm in a small town. When my sisters and I were given a job, such as cutting firewood I hated it, but it wasn't until I went into high school that I realized how much character was built. I started playing basketball when I was four years old. My dad would spend hours with me in our barn teaching me the fundamentals. I have learned many things about myself throughout basketball and through life. Failure pushes me harder and mentally I can take on hard tasks. Playing junior varsity as a freshman and some of my sophomore year bothered me. I wanted a starting spot on varsity. I pushed myself in practice and in the weight room, putting in extra hours while holding a job on the weekends, I was able to get a spot at the end of sophomore year. "If you start something, you need to finish it". My mom and dad have always told me this. I believe that starting something and finishing it, whether you fail or succeed builds character.
