Hello my name is Dominqiue Hassinger , but more commonly known as Meeko Hassinger. I am 5' 1", 125 pounds, and I play point gaurd. As a basketball player I have participated in countless fall leagues, spring leagues and have also been playing AAU since I could remember. On the floor I am a leader for the team and I am able to communicate what the coaches want to do to my fellow teammates. In my junior year I was voted captain for the basketball team and as a senior I am the captain for the cross country and basketball teams. I was voted to the Daily Journal All Area team and the Tricounty All Star team. My court awarenss is also very good: I know where to pass the ball and which teammate has the most beneficial shot for the team. Furthermore, I am able to identify opposing teams' defenses as a point gaurd and conduct the offense according to the coaches expectations. On the defensive end I supply the spark for all my teams and always give 110%. I live by the saying offense sells tickets and defense wins games: in order to be succcessful in any game an effort on defense must be present thorughout the entirity of the game. Through my leadership , work ethic, and knowledge of the game I believe that I can be an asset to any team. The characterisitics I obtain on the court are not only witnessed during sports: they also carry over into the academic realm. I have been an honor roll and "straight A" student all my life and as a senior with six AP courses I am determined to continue this habit. As of now I am debating a major between physics and chemistry. The type of school am looking for is a medium size school with a good science program that is within driving distance of my current address. I have no preference regarding religious affiliation, but I am interested in D1 and D2 colleges. Overall college is about the education one receives, and atheletics are a means of attaining an education. If anything my goal of the college experience is to obtain a sound education that will allow for me to have a prosperous life after college.
