Malak Mowafi '21 Recruiting Profile

My name is Malak Mowafi and I am a senior at John F. Kennedy Memorial High School in Iselin, NJ. Since my freshman year, I have been the starting point guard for my school's varsity basketball team. 

As a result of starting to play basketball at a very young age (5), I strive off of the fact that I have gotten an extensive amount of experience as I used to play on the AAU, travel, and recreation levels in addition to playing in an entirely different country (Egypt) for several years. For two of my middle school years, I used to play on the middle school, recreation, and travel teams at the same time. Due to this, I am used to learning and performing several different plays for a couple of different teams while being able to differentiate between each one. 

During the off-season, I keep myself in shape by running for my school's cross-country and track varsity teams. Apart from my athletic participation, I take pride in maintaining a high GPA of 3.79 even with the numerous amount of college-level and advanced placement classes I have taken since my freshman year. In addition to this, I have also been getting involved in several extracurriculars and volunteering programs.

Since my freshman year of high school, I have been able to balance my academics, athletics, and the aforementioned extracurriculars. During my junior year, my coach awarded me the Kennedy Mustang Award for my effort, commitment, and dedication to my team. This is one of the main reasons I believe that I am one of the most hard-working and determined players for any team that I am a part of. 

I have always enjoyed playing basketball, whether it be for a team or in my free time. My goals for the future are to play on the college-level, regardless of what division it may be.
