Taylor Freeman '14 Recruiting Profile

My name is Taylor Freeman and I am the starting point guard for my varsity basketball team at John F Kennedy Memorial High School in Iselin NJ. I pride myself on having a “blue-collar” work ethic and I thrive in an up-tempo system. I have been playing basketball since I was 6 years old and at the AAU level since the 5th grade. I work hard on the fundamentals and strive to be a student of the game. I am used to an extensive playbook. As the starting varsity point guard my Freshman year, I helped my team win more conference games that season than in the previous four seasons combined. That year my coach, Jerry Smith, gave me the Kennedy Coaches Award. It is given to the player who possesses the characteristics that coaches model their program after. Last year, my Sophomore season, we won our division for the first time in school history and also finished with the best record in our schools history, 18-6. I was named to the All-Division team and the new varsity coach, Heidi Hodnett, gave me the Kennedy Mustang Award for my effort, commitment, and dedication to the team. I have been preparing for college by taking the highest level classes in high school, maintaining a 3.4 GPA, and getting involved in programs like Heroes and Cool Kids.
