Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Alexis Walking Eagle. I am currently a senior at Todd County High School. The end of my sophomore year was canceled due to Covid, as was my junior year of basketball, at Todd County. When I was given the opportunity to transfer and play for the Lady Braves in Marty, South Dakota, and play basketball, I took it. I was on the starting five for the Marty Lady Braves as a Junior. In the little time that I went to school in Marty, I stepped up being the leader of the team. Taking on that role that my new coach has given to me, I have had more experience with that team than I have with any other team. I love basketball, it has been my escape from reality. It also pushes me to take chances. One of those changes is to move to a new school late in high school to keep playing the game I love. Now that I am a senior back at Todd County, I have learned a lot from basketball, I have made mistakes in life, I have lost people, I have been at my worst and basketball has always been my outlet. I love making new relationships, aligning with other teammates. Coming back to my old school and playing with the people I grew up with is one of the promising things I have done. I have chemistry with this team more than I have with any other team. Growing up with these same girls for over 8 years has been good to me. My coach and my teammates push me like no other person could, I love the team that I am on and the team we have become. My goal and future aspirations are to play basketball at the highest level and I know that this experience the last year and beyond will only help make that dream come true.
