As a Christian athlete, it is more than important that I not only develop the knowledge and skills that will lead me into a successful life, but that I also expand my character, integrity, leadership, teamwork, and fellowship in order to grow in my faith and become the best version of myself. From a young age, I have been supported and cared for by two loving parents, who have constantly challenged me to be the best person and athlete I can be. They have coached, supported and attended every performance, game, competition, or event in which I have participated. This unconditional support has motivated me to participate in UIL Academic Events, Symphonic Band, and multiple sports. Those sports included little league T-ball through baseball majors, flag football, middle school basketball, JV volleyball, varsity cross-country, varsity track, and most importantly four years of varsity basketball.
Aspects of my personality include hard work, accountability, and discipline to name a few. I have learned from none other than my mom and dad. My mom is in her twenty-first year as a public school teacher, mentoring hundreds of high-risk children in her classroom. My dad served 12 years as an Infantry Officer in the Army, leading and training soldiers while serving our county. They have demonstrated and taught me that service comes before self, and I cannot imagine who I would be without them.
Throughout my athletic career, I have juggled church, education, and citizenship in my community. I maintain a 3.9/4.0 throughout high school, staying within the top 5% of my class ranking, while participating in clubs such as NHS, Rho Kappa, and Fellowship of Christian athletes. I have also volunteered for the organizations like the Food Bank, Texas Zoo, and local libraries, while working 12 or more hours a week at the HEB grocery store.
I have done all of this while staying consistent with my heart and mind set on following God and the path he has set out for me. The Lord has been with me every step of the way, loving me endlessly and supporting me the exact same way my parents have portrayed. Through the good, bad, and ugly, God has lifted me through it all and woken me up each and every day to set me on the path that I am right now, including the chance to talk to you.
I love the game of basketball and the teams for which I have played so much that I will stop at nothing to become a better team player; this means staying extra hours in the gym, building comradery with my teammates, and accepting constructive criticism from my coaches. Over the years, I have grown to enjoy challenging, passionate coaches most of all, pushing me to excel under their leadership and program of development. I am beyond thankful for the many abilities God has given me, and I appreciate more than anything the opportunity to be considered and speak to you about potentially contributing to your team.
