In all that I do, I give one hundred percent. Whether it's a project at school, homework assignment, or out on the court. Since I was young, my mom has instilled in me the notion of once you start something, you finish it. In every part of my life, when I commit, I commit. Honesty. Integrity. Empathy. Compassion. Determination. Kindness. These thing have been instilled in me throughout my life by my mom, my sister, my faith, and, of course, the game of basketball.
It's always been a goal of mine to attend college just like my mom, who was the first and only one in her family to do so. I'm going to be an attorney one day, so I'll need a college education to get there. But first, I'm just excited to be able to get the college experience. The professors, the diverse student populace (so many people!), the real-life aspect of being on my own, and basketball! I aim to get a basketball scholarship and (if possible) an academic scholarship. That would be amazing: to be able to get an education doing what I love- basketball. I am eventually going to be studying law, so I can get my law degree, but I would also really like to study political science as I mentioned, because government and politics have always fascinated me, and I'm taking all of the classes I can get my hands on in high school. Also, I would like to do something with psychology, preferably abnormal psychology- it's just so interesting!
Personally, I need to get straight A's. It's not a negative pressure, but a welcome one. I've always had high expectations for myself, and I feel that they help me succeed in whatever I put my mind to. But I've learned that it's also important to do things outside of school, which is why I'm in numerous clubs and I'm currently in my high school's musical. But the biggest thing is basketball. It's my stress-relief. It's how I have fun, and keep in shape. I've learned so much about teamwork and friendship; I've learned how to deal with difficult people and persevere, to focus on the controllables, and to work hard.
On your team, I will be one of the hardest-working players on the court. I will not only play my heart out on the court but in the classroom as well. I will be a teammate who will always be there for her fellow players, both on and off the court, because teams are everyone; everyone is needed. On your team, I will do my best to further your program with pride, determination, and heart.
