Giani Boerner '27 Recruiting Profile

Hello and thank you for your interest! 

I am a Sophomore at the Rivers School(MA) where I play all 6 rotations as a starting outside hitter and primary passer for the Girls Varsity Team.  I am currently an outside hitter for SMASH Volleyball Club's (Newton, MA) top U17 team and we will be playing at the 17 Open level most of the season.  During the 2021/22 season, I was playing as a Libero for Owl's Volleyball Club on a U17 team. I consider myself a utility player, having played Outside, Libero, DS and Setter over the last 4 seasons. I previously played on Smash Volleyball Club's top teams since the age of 9! This year I was nominated for the 2024 AVCA Phenom Watch List!

When I am not playing indoor volleyball, I am likely on the beach or grass courts playing doubles. This summer I have competed at Coed Open/AA and Women's Open level. At the East Coast Championships in November 2023 (in Clearwater Florida), I finished in 9th place. In 2025 I am 100% focused on competing at adult beach Open tournaments in order to improve my game and confidence. During my off time I coach children under the age of 12 at our Volleyball Youth Program and also offer private lessons for middle schoolers in the area. I like traveling, hanging out with friends, volunteering and in the winter you can find me on the ski and snowboard slopes.
