Personal Statement
Two years ago I began diving for my high school team. Not only have I grown as a diver over the past year but also as a person. After 7 years of gymnastics and 3 years of cheerleading I was able to pick up diving quickly. I lettered my freshman, sophomore, and junior season. During my freshman season I fell in love with the sport of diving so when it ended I knew I couldn’t stop and wait 9 months for the next season. I joined American Flyers Diving and I improved greatly over the summer on 1 meter, 3 meter, and platform. My sophomore and junior year I won the Suburban League conference and qualified for states. Junior year I finaled at states and placed 13th. Now I am competing in both AAU and USA Diving meets. I'm working on bigger, harder dives and perfecting the dives I already have. Diving has taught me to be mentally strong and to build myself up not tear myself down. Some of my best qualities are my ability to make changes quickly and my determination to succeed. I listen to my coaches and make corrections. I am not scared to try new dives. I come to practice everyday with the mindset of improving and to always work hard. My drive to be the best diver I can be is unmatched.
Outside of the pool I am more than just a diver. I’m not only a hard worker on the board but also in the classroom. I finished my sophmore year with straight A’s and a 4.2 GPA. I also enjoy baking, weightlifting, and spending time with friends and family. Nutrition and exercise are very important to me to help my diving and to lead a healthy life. My goals for college are to dive at a school where the team is a family, everyone supports each other, and can help me reach my fullest potential.
