I am Gia Vitelli, Hightstown Highschool class of 2026! I received my first set of golf clubs before I was even 2 years old ... and the rest was history! When I am not focusing on school, spending time with family and friends, or working out at the gym, you will find me on the course working on my game!
Its safe to say that golf has and always will be a huge part of my life! In addition to maintaining a 3.75 GPA, I am a dual varsity sport athlete (field hockey) and a 3x MVP and Captain for my Highschool team! Highlights from my Spring 2025 Highschool season include:
Tied for 4th (5th) in state-wide Lady Bombers Tournament (77)
3rd in County Tournament
7th in Sectionals (South Group A)
Broke top 25 in first appearance at NJSIAA Tournament of Champions
Ranking 25th in the state (overall season, best 6 scores)
Ranked 1st in the state in total eagles (overall season, 3 total)
Ranked 10th in the state for birdies (overall season, 20 total)
Beyond my high school team, I remain active in The Junior Tour Powered by Under Armour (UA Tour - Central New Jersey league), AJGA, NJSGA and NJPGAJr. Some recent highlights include:
2x, back-to-back league champion for UA Tour (summer and fall 2024 seasons, girls 15-18 division)
Tied for 3rd (4th) in UA Tour 2025 Winter Nationals (girls 15-18 division, improving from prior appearances in 2024 Summer Nationals where I placed 6th)
1st in NJ Junior PGA Spring 2025 Junior Event at Fox Hollow (first event for the season)
Both on and off the course, I have a very strong work ethic and remain committed to continued growth and improvement! I was diagnosed with Dyslexia at a young age, and spent several years participating in an intensive tutoring program to help me "retrain" my brain. I am proud to share that I am now an avid reader and have earned a spot in several advanced placement classes! My experiences with Dyslexia not only shaped my dedicated work ethic, but my drive to continuously push myself to be the best Gia I can be!
The course has truly become my home away from home. Even on a tough day, I think back to something that the great Annika Sörenstam shared with me when I had the opportunity to play with her in 2022.
She said, "I never hit a bad shot," and explained that while this would be impossible, the moral is that she never carried the bad shot with her, she would forget it and move on and not carry the frustration with her to the next hole! This really empowered me! I had already been doing this with school and my Dyslexia - I never let it stop me and kept pushing forward with a positive attitude while remaining focused on how not to continue to make mistakes. I knew I could do this with Golf!
Over the last few years, after playing with Annika, I have used her technique with great success! During day 2 of the UA Tour Winter Nationals I ran into some trouble on a few holes. Giving up or caving to the challenge was never an option! I just kept reciting what Anika said and pushed on - making more birdies to finish strong, tied for 3rd place!
I am strong, confident and capable - and I am excited for what the future holds. My exact career path is still to be paved, but for now I am excited about the opportunities ahead and look forward to continuing my education and earning a spot on a collegiate team!
Beyond golf and school, I am a huge New York Rangers hockey fan, and love photography and art – especially painting, sketching, and sculpting.
Be sure to see additional stats in my full profile and I look forward to speaking with you soon!
