My name is Anika Patel and I played golf recreationally when I was 11, and started playing competitively when I joined my high school's Varsity Team as a Freshman. I was the District 9-5A JV Individual Champion and shot my record low of 76 my Junior Year. I understand that I don't have the lowest track record or highest achievements. I was on track to shoot more consistently low scores my Junior Year, however, I discovered I had a tumor and underwent surgery. It took 2 months to recover and walk normally again, and after that I worked hard to get back on track with playing golf. Despite my setback I believe my hard work to get to where I am shows my resilience and commitment to improving my game. I am now a Senior at Liberty High School and the Captain of the Varsity Team. I would like to play collegiate golf because of the experience I would gain playing a sport I love at a high level.
My desired major is Biology and to be on the Pre-Med Track for Medical School because my longtime career goal is to be an anesthesiologist. I have maintained strong academics throughout high school while managing time for golf.
I am a determined individual and have learned through personal defeats and success that golf is a mental game that I strive to improve on with disciplined practice and reach my fullest potential.
