My dream is to play golf in a great college program and then in the LPGA. Though my current average may not reflect this goal, I only started competing in golf two years ago and have a great coach who has helped me improve each year. I am competitive, dedicated and have a huge desire to win. I won the NTPGA tournament at Grapevine September 19/20, 2020 and shot my lowest tournament score, 68!
I am the youngest of four children and have lived in 5 cities and 9 homes in my seventeen years. There were no concessions…Do your best is a family motto. Academically, this meant making good grades. I definitely want to get excellent grades in college but also wish to learn real practical lessons that will be valuable to me in my life and career.
My older siblings were great students and also participated in many sports or other extra-curricular activities. There were always rules of minimum abilities to get to play, especially with my older brother, which resulted in my working hard and being extremely competitive, determined and versatile. In middle school, I participated in many sports (often on boys’ teams) including basketball, baseball, flag football, track, softball and volleyball. I played club basketball for eight years.
In high school, I have focused on two sports. We moved to Texas from California before my freshman year. The move and transition were difficult for me. The culture was different, and I was so much younger than my teammates on the basketball team. I bonded with the golf team and found that I do have the ability to play and enjoy it. Although not common, the school has accommodated, and I have played varsity basketball and golf all three years in high school.
I am generally gregarious and love being part of a team but have found I also enjoy the individuality of golf. I am strategizing against the course, the weather, etc and playing to beat my best and to win individually. I was lucky to play with our golf team in the State Championship in 2018-my freshman year and look forward to putting up scores that will help the team get there next year!
I also played with our basketball team in the State Championship in 2019-my sophomore year. We came in second. I was a captain on the basketball team last year and although we lost nine varsity players who were seniors in 2019 and all the starters, we won the State Championship! I have balanced playing two sports on two high caliber teams while also focusing on academics and given all my best!
I know I am behind…but I will continue competing in golf tournaments, will be actively updating my information and hope that you will follow me and watch my progress. Thank you!
