Personal Statement
I work at Firewheel Golf Course in Texas and that is where my interest in golf truly began. It didn't take off until I received my fourth concussion during a mission trip in South Africa ending my 13 year long soccer career as well as the possibilty of playing any other contact sports. I started playing up at Firewheel all the time, hitting balls practically every single day after work trying to figure out how to swing. I was never legitamately coached, but Kevin Bleiler, our "Golf School Director of Instruction" has given me many tips as well as all the guys that work in the proshop. I went out for the golf team at my high school, Sachse, and I made varsity after only playing golf for about two months. Everybody up at the course tells me I have a really natural swing as well as extremely high potential. The very first time I played through 9 holes I shot a 44. I haven't been playing for too long, but I have completely fallen in love with it and continue to practice almost everyday in hopes of being able to play in college.
I make very good grades at my school. I'm in the top 3% with a GPA of 4.14 meaning that I'm ranked number 20 out of 665. My goal for graduation is top me in the top 10 people. This has always been a challenge for me seeing that I have ADHD as well as having to deal with migraines from concussions since 7th grade.
I'd say the most important quality of myself would be my love for God. I have recently had a lot go on through my life and I through all of it I have learned to completely trust Him with everything because he is in control; no matter what the situation is that's going on. The verse Jeremiah 29:11 "'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future,'" has made such a dramtic impact on my life throughout the past couple of years. My goal for college is to go to a Division I or II School and hopefully play golf, and study nursing as well as Communications/Speech. I would like to go to nursing school afterwards and take what skills I learned there to South Africa and help the kids out there as well as preach the gospel to surrounding people. Seeing that my parents got a divorce, my mom doesn't have a steady job, and my parents have to pay $18,000 a year for my brothers' specialized learning private school it would be awfully nice to earn somewhat of a scholarship for school; whether it be for academics or athletics. I know just because I hope for all of that to happen doesn't mean it will, I know God has a plan for me and whatever happens will be for the best.
