I feel that going to Nationals with my comp team has been the highlight of my hockey career thus far, especially considering the obstacles that we had to overcome. During the season, we played in 2 Tier I tournaments as a Tier II team, which felt very discouraging at times. Through this experience, I learned the importance of encouraging my teammates, persevering, and holding myself accountable. In the end, our team was second in districts and went to Nationals on an at-large bid.
Hockey has always been an integral part of my life that I want to continue into my college career. I started playing hockey when I was 5 years old, in the backyard with my brothers. As I’ve grown up,my hockey community has not only become my second family, but has taught me valuable lessons that I would not have learned elsewhere. As a two-time captain, hockey has allowed me to demonstrate that I am a compassionate and responsible leader. I believe that I not only have the necessary qualities to make an impact on your team, but your school as well. In both my academics and athletics, I constantly challenge myself and strive to achieve my goals, which are often aimed towards benefitting others, rather than myself.
