At four years old, I had skates on my feet and a stick in my hand. My dad was my coach and with great enthusiasm, he guided me in the development of hockey. My father later passed away from a tragic plane crash when I was seven years old, it was a struggle for me for a period of time and school and my love of hockey was on hold. I found music to be my inspiration, I decided to dance full time which jeopardized my hockey skills.
A few years later, I was able to move back into hockey with help from a friend and had discovered how much I missed it and my dad. I became highly motivated with catching up on my skating, stickhandling, and the game of hockey. I have spent my summers in camps progressing to and beyond the level of my teammates. My camps have taught me to engage in people, motivate myself, embrace challenges, welcome criticism, and give to others by volunteering my time with younger players. I believe all these characteristics have great quality in succeeding in college and in my future.
Hockey has allowed me to take on challenges at school, push me to make straight A’s, tested my ability to juggle two hockey teams, school, and homework. My next step is to excel in International Baccalaureate classes next year and the following and move into college hoping to attend pre-medical classes while playing hockey.Statistic | 2016 Aspen Junior H | 2015 Aspen Junior H | 2014 Aspen Junior H |
