Although I discovered hockey later than most, I quickly fell in love with the game when it became more than just a sport. The rink became my second home, and my teammates became like family. My name is Kylie Schwab, and I am a 2028 goalie currently playing for the Mid-Fairfield CT Stars 16U Tier 1 Independent (AAA travel) as well as the Canterbury Saints (Varsity/NEPSAC). I am a reclassified Grade 9 student at the Canterbury School (CT), maintaining a 3.9 GPA and enrolled in all honors courses.
Outside of hockey, I’m deeply committed to giving back to my community and exploring other passions. In the summer of 2023, I dedicated over 40 hours teaching beginner skating lessons, helping young athletes take their first strides on the ice. My faith and love for music and art are also important parts of who I am. I participate in Bible study and a drawing club, and play the drums—both of which allow me to express myself and stay grounded.
Throughout my athletic journey, I’ve faced many challenges, but each one has shaped me into a stronger, more resilient person. Sports have taught me the value of teamwork, perseverance, and leadership—lessons I carry with me in all aspects of life. I pride myself on being a supportive teammate and a dedicated student who is always open to feedback and new opportunities. I thrive in diverse environments and aim to contribute positively to any team or community I’m part of.
Academics are just as important to me as athletics. I aspire to pursue a degree in communications or sports science with a minor in business, with the goal of building a career in the sports and media world. I want to share my passion for sports through storytelling and impactful media work, which I am slowly building my photography portfolio. When searching for a college, I’m not only looking for a strong academic and athletic program, but also a welcoming and tight-knit community—a place that feels like home the moment I step on campus, surrounded by peers, coaches, and mentors who feel like family.
Above all, I hope my journey through the college search process allows me to truly show who I am beyond a résumé or statement. I want coaches, professors, teammates, and peers to see the drive, integrity, and heart I bring to everything I do.
