Growing up I never would've imagined myself playing hockey. At the late age of 12, I went to a local neighboring town that had recently started a girl's team. I instantly fell in love with the game. After playing my first season and going to a WCHA women's game I knew that I wanted to take my game even further in the future. After two seasons playing in Iowa most of my team including me, aged out and didn’t have a district to play in. I made the decision to play in Sioux Falls, SD which is 2 hours away from my hometown. I am very dedicated to driving to Sioux Falls every Tuesday for practice, while still practicing at my home rink on the other days. From practices to games I have commitment, drive, and am always willing to improve my game. I am always wanting to be a better player on and off the ice.
I am so grateful to have such amazing coaches from when I started playing hockey to the ones I have now. They have guided me to excellence and have given me more skills than I would’ve ever gotten in Iowa. They have all been great role models and have taught me to push myself to my fullest potential every day. Hockey allows me to push myself while playing with girls who all have the same goal as me.
Throughout the rest of high school, my goals are to continue to play hockey in Sioux Falls, maintain my 3.8 GPA, and continue playing tennis. I hope and believe that in the future I will improve even more and get to the goal of playing college hockey.
