Skating Treadmill...Personal Statement
Ever since I first watched my younger brother step foot on the ice, I knew that I wanted to pursue the same sport, hockey. I have always wanted to push myself to be the best that I could be whether at school, at home, or at the rink. As a student-athlete I have quickly learned that you must balance your time between both academics and your sport. Throughout high school, I have been very successful in maintaining this desired combination.
During my hockey career I have had to overcome spans in which my team was not very successful. At times I had become very frustrated. I feel this frustration has built character within me. It served as motivation to push my competitive nature even further. It additionally allowed me to set goals to improve myself individually, in order to further benefit the whole team. Leadership qualities also came naturally, as I tried to guide my team toward success. I have accumulated many important skills like respect, loyalty, perseverance, and confidence on and off the ice. I would love to continue my journey into college, where I can advance my academics, prepare for my future, as well as play the sport I have dedicated so much of my life to.
