I started playing hockey at the age of four. I played on the boys' hockey team through peewee level. Playing with the boys gave me an advantage moving up to girls' varsity as an 8th grader. I was prepared for the faster paced, quick reaction game at the varsity level. I earned a spot in the regular defensive rotation in the first game of my 8th grade year. The past two years I’ve been a starter on defense and been on both power play and penalty kill teams.
Over the years I have committed myself to be the best player I can be. To be able to accomplish this goal I do dryland just about every day, stick handling, and shooting every day. I have been seeking out training opportunities such as High Performance 16’s team, High Performance 16’s shooting camp, AAA teams, Premier Prep League, and Strength and Conditioning personal training. All these training opportunities have helped me improve my skills and reach my goal.
Having the chance to play on multiple teams with players from all over Minnesota has been a highlight of my hockey career. I have bonded with many of my teammates and now are some of my best friends. I am always looking forward to getting back on the ice to play with or against them. I can adapt to many coaches and teammates play of the game. That gives me an advantage to do even better out on the ice. Another highlight of my hockey career was making it to the Minnesota State Girls Hockey Tournament last season. My goal is to help my team make a return appearance this season.
I would love to have the opportunity to play college hockey, and further my education. With my great work-ethic, passion, and teamwork I believe that I have the talents and skills to compete at the collegiate level. In the classroom I like to challenge myself by taking honors classes and higher-level math courses. I plan on challenging myself by taking more college classes throughout my high school career. On the ice I love to compete against others and become the best player I can be. With my passion, work-ethic and teamwork on and off the ice, I would be a great addition on a college hockey team.
Thank you for taking the time to read my personal statement.
