Hey! My name is Ellie Stedina. I am currently a repeat Junior at Kimball Union Academy, a boarding school with about 335 students located in Meriden, New Hampshire.
I began playing hockey at the start of my 7th grade year for the U12 Woodstock Wasps in Woodstock, Vermont. My cousin had previously played for Woodstock and her dad was the coach for the team. Since I previously skied and snowboarded non competitively and the hockey team needed a goalie, I decided to try out a new sport. Our team consisted of 7 players, including myself who was the only goalie. That year, my team ended up winning the state championship with a shutout. We had gone to sectionals in Stowe, Vermont to compete against teams from around the east coast.
My freshman year of high school, I was lucky to be apart of the Girls Varsity Hockey team at Woodstock. I was the starting goalie for the team as well. Our team was quite consistent throughout our season which got us to the semi final game against the Stowe Raiders. During the game that night, I had found out that I had gotten accepted into the only prep school I had applied to which was Kimball Union Academy.
I would not give up this entire experience because it has gotten me where I am today playing with so many amazing girls from all over the country. I am a well-rounded athlete who has a great amount of determination and energy. I also take my schoolwork very seriously and I believe I can keep up with playing hockey and academics in college. I look forward to engage in conversations with coaches who have programs that are a great fit for my hardworking, composure type personality and character!
