Personal Statement
Ever since I was little I loved sports and have always tried to be the best player I could be. I have played soccer, softball, basketball, and now ice hockey. I started playing in eighth grade and had a lot catching up to do if I wanted to play competitively. It was very struggling in the beginning, mainly because I learned how to skate and play hockey at the exact same time. Nothing was going to get in my way; my great determination strived me to be the best player I could be. I was on the ice almost every day, but when I wasn’t, I was watching as much hockey as possible. With all the hard work and time I put in I was able to make the Colonials AA girls team along with the Morristown Beard Varsity girls team my freshman year. I am not known as one to give up, nor do I ever plan on being known as a quitter. This year (sophomore year) I was named assistant captain for my Colonials team. That is proof I can do whatever I put my mind to and be a great role model/leader at the same time. Just the thought of being a captain for my team makes me appreciate everyone and everything so much more each and every time I step on the ice. I never thought that I would be assistant captain or even as good as I am today in such a short amount of time. It proves that anything is possible. Although hockey has been my whole life these past two years, I have made sure all my academics and school work is in check. This year I am in almost all honors classes and am receiving As and Bs. My current GPA is a 3.8 and, just like hockey, I plan on improving as the school year goes on.
