I do not know a life without hockey. Ever since I was a child hockey has been a major factor in my life. The sport was first introduced to me by my brother. I had always looked up to him and was excited to follow in his footsteps. Soon after I started my mom started to get involved and was driven to make a girls program. A program was quickly developing and many girls started to join, those girls soon became my best friends.
As I grew older I started to narrow down my sports that I was playing. In the end, two sports were left, field hockey and ice hockey. Both, sports have trained me to become very athletic on and off the ice. The two sports are very different, but together allow me to have interchangeable skills. I play both sports for my high school, Oak Knoll. I also play travel ice hockey for Ironbound Elite. By playing two sports, I have been given the opportunity to be apart of the athletic council representatives in my school.
Out of the two sports ice hockey became my main focus. I started to work my hardest hoping to become the best I can and eventually reaching my goal of playing college hockey. On the bench and on the ice I stay positive and keep the energy up. I am also a very hardworking, coachable, and a quick learning player.
All and all without hockey I would not be the person I am today. I have met lifetime friends, amazing teammates, and great coaches. For my major, I am looking into something medical. I am not 100% sure what I want to do exactly but I want to help people whether it be mentally or physically. Finally, hockey has shaped me into the person I am today and cannot wait to continue to follow my dream for hockey.
