When I was younger I thought I was too skinny to play sports. It wasn't that I was bad at athletics, I just thought I was too flimsy to play(and had a slight fear of balls flying toward my face.) But, in my 7th-grade year, I decided not to let my fear control me and continue to be the most well-rounded person I can be by joining Harlem Lacrosse. Plus being able to catch with a stick kinda relieved my fear a bit (you should have seen my face when I learned that people still break their noses.). This was just the beginning of my lacrosse journey. I took a quick liking to defense since it's mostly logic and it's easy for me to pay attention to multiple objects at once (Being aggressive is my favorite part of the sport). But, about a year ago my coach decided I had the potential to become an offense/midfielder too. So, I put more time into learning dodges, switching hands, catching, and positional theory; now I can play wherever she puts me. No matter how afraid I may be at learning something or trying out a new skill I always give it my all. This is only part of what makes me a great member of my team and a future college athlete.
