My name is Sarah Heathershaw, and I aspire to play lacrosse at the college level, in order to further my lacrosse experience and improve my skills. When I first started playing lacrosse I knew that this sport was something I wanted to do for as long as I possibly could. I have been playing for about 5 years, and I truly believe that I wouldn’t be the person I am today without this sport. Unfortunately coming from a single parent household, my family was unable to afford the cost of club programs and travel teams. Although this put me at a disadvantage for furthering my lacrosse career, I believe that I have important characteristics that make me unique from other players. Those characteristics include my competitiveness; I love to win and when I am on the field I would do anything to insure that my team wins or that if we lose we don't go down without a fight. Another strong characteristic that I have is my passion for lacrosse. There is something about this sport that fuels the passion in me. When playing lacrosse I get an overwhelming sense of joy and strive to be the best I can be. Lacrosse is something that makes me content, and fuels my passion. Along with those key characteristics another thing that makes me different from other players is my academics, although I have dyslexia and ADHD; making school a more difficult for me, my grade point average is 3.28. I am able to find a balance between school, lacrosse, work and social life.
I believe that I could be a valuable member to any college lacrosse team and that if you give me a chance I will surprise you and exceed your expectations.
