My name is Nicole Waldner, and I have a passion for lacrosse. I have been goalkeeper since my Freshman year. Before that, I played lacrosse for 6 years either as an attacker or defender. Coming into Mercy High School (class of ‘20), our lacrosse team was looking for a JV lacrosse goalie, and I took this opportunity and made it my goal to do everything I can, to become an amazing goalie my future teammates can depend on. Going into my sophomore year, I became the starting goalie.
As a goalie, I have the natural ability to be the communicator to the team. I must think fast on my feet and be able to make that connection with my teammates. I see the goalie as being a motivator for the team. I have always tried my hardest to inspire my teammates to give 100%. It's my job as a goalie; the last line of defense, to remain even-tempered when my team is down and set the tone for the defense so that we can join forces to do our job.
While sports are very important in my life academics come first. I have worked extremely hard to create as many opportunities for myself. This hard work is reflected in my grades as I excel in many subjects while taking advance and Honors classes. I am looking for a college that will be able to push me athletically and academically.
Even though senior year/season is far off, I have already set several goals for myself.
