A friend of mine who played lacrosse suggested that I start playing and said such wonderful things about the sport and how good I would be at it. I decided to go to an indoor clinic with her, fell in love with the sport and signed up for the season. The first game was the jamboree in Charlestown and I ran the wrong way and immediately wanted to quit. Though, instead of quitting I told myself to stick with the sport and work hard so that I could learn from my peers and my coaches. By the second week of freshman year I got pulled up to the varsity team and became a defending starter for the first few games. From this experience I learned that I have a lot of grit and determination, but also that I don’t give up when small mistakes happen. Instead I set goals for myself to work even harder and put both the time and effort into learning new skills. I find that when encouraging other teammates of mine, it makes me want to push my limits and become an even better teammate so my team and I can succeed together.
