Katie Clare '23 Recruiting Profile

My is Katie Clare and I live along the south shore of Long Island.  When I'm not playing lacrosse or soccer, I'm with my family, friends, or pets.  My favorite is my puppy, Tucker, along with two other dogs, two cats, a chinchilla, and . . . two pigs!!!  I love going to the beach with my friends, as it's a 10 minute ride across the bay to Fire Island.  In the winter, I LOVE cross training at Revolution Athletics and snow boarding when we can.

I started playing lacrosse at age 5 and continued with BBP youth lacrosse through to 8th grade. I began playing for Long Island Yellow Jackets in third grade and still play for them. I was selected to play Bayport-Blue Point (BBP)Varsity lacrosse as an 8th grader and playing with them presently. I also play soccer for the HS team and cross train at Revolution Athletics in Bohemia.  

I've consistently made honor/high honor roll since 6th grade and was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society in 8th grade and the National Honor Society in June 2021.  I maintain a rigorous academic schedule with emphasis on advanced science, math, and English.  

I have many strengths that are a big help while playing. I have been working on my speed for years which has grown my game tremendously. My speed is the main asset of my play. I am fierce between the restraining lines where I go after every ground ball and back check as much as I can.  On offense I am fully aware of teammates where I am constantly looking to feed any cutter I see. I have confidence when dodging to net and have power on my shots, especially my left hand. My footwork has been one strength of mine that I am very proud of because it is showcased when dodging and on defense. On defense I am fully confident in going out on my offender and am very successful on the defensive end. My favorite part about defense is taking charges. With having my feet set properly I take them as much as possible, I love making my teammates proud. 

My goal is to play lacrosse at the highest level possible while also attending a great academic school.
