I have played sports since I was 4 years old and initially started my athletic focus on basketball, field hockey and softball. Quickly, I became exposed to other sports and instantly fell in love with lacrosse. Having a twin brother who had played lacrosse since he was 6 and always asking me to play with him, quickly changed my focus to lacrosse from softball. That was the door that opened my love for lacrosse and now I aspire to play at the collegiate level. I started playing offense because as a kid who does not want to score! As I began to understand the game and play different positions it became apparent to me that defense was my spot on the field.
Defense has become my specialty as I am also a defensive specialist for volleyball called a libero and a defensive player on the lacrosse field. Being able to protect my goalie and be the setup for offensive opportunities is what drives me on the field. I have played basketball for many years and playing defense in lacrosse has so many similarities that it has allowed me to excel in helping, sliding and foot work to challenge my opponents.
I work year around with my skills through my club team, skills clinics and training for agility, foot work and speed. Playing multiple sports like volleyball and basketball have also improved my ability to stay in shape, challenge my muscles in different ways and keep my brain active. I have a natural ability to be a leader on the lacrosse field or volleyball court with a goal to improve communication with my team and help build up other team mates.
Academically I am enrolled in an AP European History class and an honors English class and have joined the R.O.A.R committee at my high school, where I work with Special Olympics New York and unified sports to give every kid the opportunity to love a game. I am also an ambassador of Morgans Message. Both these clubs give me the opportunity to work on leadership skills, give back to my community and be part of a club that impacts where I live as well as the lives of others all around the world. I have continued to work hard scholastically with achieving honor roll as a sophomore and continue to push myself to become an even better student to prepare myself for college.
My goal is to attend college and choose a school that will not only challenge me athletically as a lacrosse player, but challenge me scholastically to prepare me for my future. I want to find the right college that fits my athletic and scholastic dreams and I am open to various options as well as locations. I will continue to work hard to make my family and community proud and excited for future opportunities.
