Hello, my name is Leia Cabradillia. I am 16 years old and was born in Twentynine Palms, California on October 5, 2001. I am the youngest child of two; I have an older sister who is a freshman in college. I am currently a Junior and I have As and Bs. I also take online college classes. I played soccer when I was younger but I stopped playing around the age of 10 and started playing lacrosse shortly after. I have been playing lacrosse for the past 6 years. I started playing on defense but switched over to attack in high school. I currently play for my team at Northside High School.
Throughout my life I have played a few different sports and have gained many skills from each. I previously played soccer and did gymnastics. I currently am involved with volleyball, indoor track, and lacrosse. I played volleyball for my high school team for the last two years and was Captain and libero this year. This is my first year doing indoor track and I'm enjoying it.
When I first started playing lacrosse, I had no idea what the sport even was. My dad brought me to my first practice for Onslow Tribe and I was extremely nervous. I didn't know anyone else and I was really shy. I was picking it up pretty quickly. From there I played on the U10 team and made many friends. I kept getting better and better and fell in love with lacrosse. I was asked if I wanted to play with the U15 team because they were in need of more girls, so I moved up a division. I surprised myself when I played with them and I was actually keeping up with the older girls. Then I was asked again the play with the U19 girls because they were in need of some players. I surprised myself again. It was a great experience being able to play with and watch the older, more experienced girls when I was only 12. I looked up to them and wanted to be just like them.
When I got to high school, I was so excited to play lacrosse. I went to the pre-season workouts and was able to meet some of the girls. When the season started, I was already friends with most of them so it was nice to already have that connection. During my freshman year, I made really good friends with the Seniors and was able to help out some of the new players. During my sophomore year, we got a new coach. Coach Chris was the boys' coach at the time but he came to coach the girls because he saw how much we wanted to get better. I was again able to help the new players and was named Captain. Coach Chris saw the potential in me and pushed me hard to be the best that I can be. He still does!
I am now interested in playing lacrosse in college. I would also like to major in Biology to help me pursue my future career as a Physical Therapist. I enjoy helping people, making connections, and staying active. I am excited to see where my lacrosse career will take me!
