My name is Campbell Slankard. I am a hard-working and dedicated player. I have always had to work for the opportunities that I have received and have never had anything handed to me. Being from the south and being a lacrosse player presents me with a special, but challenging opportunity. Lacrosse is known to be a northern sport and young girls from the south are not well-known throughout the sport. Tennessee especially is nowhere of importance on the lacrosse map. This means when coaches usually see that I am from Memphis, they are not as impressed if they would see that I am from Maryland or a state in the Northeast. I have to work and play my hardest to show each and every one of them that a Memphis girl can play just as good or even better than a girl from Maryland. I want to prove to everyone that you can be from anywhere and be great at the sport even if that area has never been known to produce great players from that sport. I have the dedication and humility to play on any team with anyone. I have learned that if you do not work as a team and one player does all the work, you will not go very far. No matter how many challenges we are faced with on a daily basis, you have to preserve and look for the light at the end that will make all your pain and hardship that you have gone through worth it.
