I feel that it is important to have goals for your future; I have several goals that I would like to have met during my college rowing experience. I would enjoy finding a program that will continuously challenge me, just as Y Quad Cities does, and I would love to work my way into the varsity boat.
I think that I am a good candidate to be recruited because I am personable, empathetic, and a leader. Ever since I was young; I have been able to make people feel comfortable around me, and I understand them and their feelings. I am also easy to confide in. People are also naturally drawn to me when a leader is needed. Even if it is a simple task of deciding what time we should do something, my input is one of the most valued among my peers.
I tend to take charge and be assertive in the classroom, always asking questions and making sure that the help that I need is received. I am in the top 21% of my class at Bettendorf High School, and I strive for my personal best in and out of the classroom.
Previously, I played volleyball, ran, and jumped for the track team. When my height was the deciding factor of me being cut from the volleyball team junior year, I decided to give rowing a try. Instantly, I fell in love and have put all of my time and effort into my improvement. I am looking forward to continuing my rowing career at a four-year university, then proceeding to go into graduate school to become an Occupational Therapist.
