2024 SpotlightMy name is Eliza Powers and after several years of playing hockey, I tried learn to row programs in 8th grade, and I have been rowing consistently since joining the Hingham High Crew team freshman year. We row about 5-6 races in both the Fall and Spring. I have rowed three seasons as starboard and two as port. Rowing has taught me a lot about the benefits of hard work and discipline, and I have gained significant experience sweeping both sides and sculling at some of the camps I've attended. Last summer, I attended my second year of Ready Set Row and competed at Summer Nationals, where my U17 8+ and 4+ boats both took home gold medals (and a bronze in the U19/Youth event in the 4+)
On and off the water, I strive every day to be a good teammate and I also work equally hard in the classroom. I have maintained a strong GPA and, after getting on the honor roll my first term of high school, I have made high honors every term since.
I would like to row at a college program that has a strong team culture and a supportive atmosphere. I really value discipline and I am hoping to find a program that will help me continue to grow as an athlete and as a person. I think you will find me to be a hard worker, a good teammate, and a very coachable athlete.
