Hello! My name is Charlotte Thomas, and I am a 2024 rower at Mainland Regional High School. I started rowing 6 years ago when my mom encouraged me to join a local summer rowing camp. I have also played soccer for 8 years and both sports teams have been huge parts of my life. I have always been one of the most competitive people in my family and friend groups and rowing has been able to fulfill that side of me while also teaching me new skills and character traits.
Once I started High School rowing, I instantly fell in love with the team environment of the sport and setting/completing my own personal goals. Mentally, rowing has showed me that I can do hard things when I put my mind to it and physically continues to push me to limits that make me proud of myself and that I never realized I could reach.
I have rowed in both light weight and open weight categories. As a lighter rowing who competed in open weight category's my whole junior season, I have learned that pushing myself is the most important thing when it comes to every single practice and race. Learning to be tough, showing up for my team, and never giving up is what makes me the rower and person I am.
In a college program, I am looking for a competitive team that is constantly pushing each other and making each other the best possible athlete, team and individual person they can be. I consider myself a determined, disciplined, focused athlete and I love being surrounded by girls who are the same way. My current crew teams (both high school and club) are people I would consider family and my best friends, we never let each other give up which is what I am looking like in a team.
