Hi! My name is Zora Tracy and I am a junior at Montclair High School, Nj. I began my rowing journey freshman fall and fell in love with the sport and the people. Rowing has taught me a great amount about strength, perseverance and pushing just a little more. These are lessons I apply to every aspect of my life. I strive to be a workhorse, ready for every challenge, academically, athletically, and in all that I do.
Since my freshman year, I have put my effort into rowing as well as pursuing my passion for film and production through volunteering and rising through the ranks to become a Production Assistant and Stage Manager in school productions. I am a multitasker and make sure everything gets the attention it deserves so that I know I am giving it my all; this I have learned from crew. I will bring devotion, energy, and a strong spirit to the team. I am a joyous person who will cheer on every person I meet.
I am not an especially tall rower, but this challenge pushes me every time I have an erg handle or an oar in my hands. I will not let something as small as a few inches on my height stop me from breaking through barriers and getting to the finish line. I have confidence in my talent, but know that it is hard work that builds a great rower and a great person.
I have been active my whole life, hiking, running and most of all, playing lacrosse, and was on track to make varsity in my freshman year, however that fall I accidently found myself at a rowing practice in boots and jean shorts. That was the first time I stepped into a boat and in that moment I knew it wouldn't be the last. I am so grateful to have found a community with people who share my passion for hard work, who are willing to give their all to push their boat ahead.
