Being honest here: I know I’m not the fastest rower on land and am not physically the strongest nor the tallest. So this leads you to question why you should consider me to be a part of your team? Well, what I lack in physical abilities I make up for in attitude, mindset, and effort. I have been rowing with Row America Rye since 7th grade and always knew that in order to compete I would have to work twice as hard as anyone else. Over the years I’ve put in as much work as possible both during practice and off the water at home. My attitude, mindset, and will to win is one that I believe greatly adds to the team atmosphere and my performance on the water.
This mindset carries over to my education as well. I am always striving to do and be better with my academics. While I like to excel in my classes, I take the most challenging ones for myself in order to advance academically and truly benefit from the opportunities I am provided with. I choose many of my classes by considering my future aspirations. For example, language is something I am truly passionate about because I feel as if it opens a wide range of possibilities to connect with people around the world. I currently take French 2 and AP Spanish as I'd be interested in continuing my practice of language throughout college and life. This is also reflected in the service work I do each weekend which is focused around Spanish-speaking communities. In addition, I was accepted into the finance and leadership program. This opportunity will greatly expand my knowledge as I would love to pursue finance in college and later as a career.
I've been rowing for 5 years and my love for the sport and team grows stronger with each stroke I take! Crew has been a huge part of my life and I'd like to keep it that way.
