Personal Statement

My name is Emory Oakes from Tulsa, Oklahoma. I’m graduating from Lincoln Christian School in May 2024. I currently row with the Tulsa Youth Rowing Association Varsity competitive team and began rowing in June 2021. Even though I am newer to the sport, I am dedicated to learning and growing in my ability. I look forward to gaining competitive experiences in the years to come and am excited to see what my future holds as a collegiate rowing student-athlete.

I am committed to excelling in my high school education and my goal is to graduate with a 4.0 GPA or better with my eyes set on medical school post-college graduation.  My cumulative GPA is a 4.04. I am determined to work hard and am proud to represent Tulsa Youth Rowing Association for my third varsity competitive season in 2023-2024 as team captain. I would be honored to represent a university as a contributing member of a rowing team next year.
