I have been a coxswain competing on my high school team beginning fall of my freshman year. I had been competing in both travel softball as a lead-off slap hitter and basketball as the starting point guard prior to joining the rowing team. I was a two sport student athlete my freshman year, however my role on the rowing team became more demanding and the competition more fulfilling. I balance a rigorous course load of honors/AP classes and 4-5 day a week practice schedule with school activities, community service and running my own small baking business. I am ambitious and thrive in a competitive environment. As a coxswain, I must be prepared to execute a race plan, lead and motivate my rowers, analyze conditions and adapt in high pressure situations in the boat. If you ask my rowers, my presence makes a difference in any boat I am tasked to coxswain as we have earned numerous medals throughout my three years in both men’s and women’s boats. I am looking for a team that competes at a high level and coaches who appreciate the coxswain‘s importance in their program’s success. I appreciate how rowing continues to challenge me, shape my character and form lasting relationships on and off the water.
