Personal Statement
Throughout my life, I have worked to strive forward with every ounce of grace running through my body; between academics, athletics and my home life. I want nothing more than to strive to be the best person I can be. Athletically, on the boat in practices and regattas, I bring positivity to my team. My willingness and work ethic has placed me as a hard working teammate in my boat each season. I believe my strong suit within crew and what makes me a great candidate for your team is my resilience. Through every workout I strive to beat the last one. I receive and implement tips from my coaches, making me a very coachable rower. I always have room for improvement, whether it's through my academics or on the water.
I row for the Old Dominion Boat Club select team during the fall seasons and the T.C. Williams High School Rowing team during the spring seasons. I also keep up my fitness through participation in winter training sessions. Mental concentration has helped shape me into the person I am today, having to overcome many obstacles. I've continued my life despite the different barriers never hindering my ability to keep moving forward; to raise up through the drawbacks. I constantly strive to be stronger. I have learned through rowing the mental part of this particular sport, you come to realize there's virtually nothing in life you can't accomplish with enough grit.
