Grace Yokitis Row...I love to row and I am looking forward to rowing at the collegiate level, merging my success in academics (4.2 GPA) and athletics (Stotesbury cup and 2nd at SRRA Nationals).
I make goals, visualize the outcome, and I won’t rest until I achieve them, whether it be a seat on the boat or earning an A in a difficult class. For example, in 8th grade I made a goal that I would eventually squat my weight. Though this goal was modified to deadlift, I will never forget the feeling I experienced when I deadlifted 150 pounds for the first time! My current deadlift is 215 pounds, with a goal of twice my body weight by the time I graduate high school and beyond that in college.
I’m also adaptable, able to be whatever is needed for the situation at hand, from a rowing and social standpoint. I’m bisweptual and have rowed c in the stern (Spring 17’, Spring 19’, and Fall 19’), middle four (Spring 18’, Fall 18’), and bow (Spring 19’). I’ve also learned how to adapt socially to the different types of people I would row with. My freshmen year, I was on an all freshmen boat with people I went to class with, and had mostly quiet personalities. Next year however I was on a boat of kind, outgoing seniors and was able to row successfully with both groups of girls.
