I started rowing in the spring of my Junior year and there hasn’t been a day that goes by where I don’t regret my decision to switch from figure skating to rowing. It’s the one sport that I feel the tightest connection to and I will give everything and do anything I need to do in order to be successful at it. The love and passion I have for rowing moves me to get better and better and it’s my goal to continue rowing in college and beyond.
As a student with a learning disability I have always had to work harder than anyone else in the room and that same assertiveness is displayed in my rowing. When I am not on the water or in the classroom, I am erging at home 2x a day or going to the gym and the long-term goals I set for myself are what I focus on every day. To become faster and to work harder than the day before. To be confident in my abilities, to be flexible and adaptable to change.
I plan to attend a college that best fits my needs as a student and as a rower. I want to continue to push myself at every opportunity and to row at the highest level of competition I can. I know that whatever college I land at, my goal is to be the hardest working rower on the team, to be a role model for other students like myself, and to push myself and my team to be the best rowers we could ever think possible.
