Hello Coaches! My name is Megan Helge and I have been rowing for 3 years at Stone Bridge High School in Ashburn, Virginia. I am eager to continue my rowing career in college! I have experience in a four as well as an eight and I also know how to scull. I am a competitive swimmer and have been on a competitive club team for 11 years. I have managed to compete in swimming, marching band, and rowing throughout high school while maintaining my 4.4 GPA and 39 of 412 ratings.
Through my experience in sports, I have learned how to manage my time between sports and school as well as staying strong-minded and enthusiastic in both. I would be an excellent addition to your team because I have a positive attitude, am always eager to work hard, and am very determined. My favorite part about rowing is the teamwork and the relationships you build with your teammates. When you're racing, it's not just one person against another person. It's an entire boat working together as one, which I find amazing.
Outside of school, I am involved in Girl Scouts, coaching swimming, leading my church's youth group, many clubs at school, and leading two of my own clubs.
I recently had ACL and meniscus surgery twice within a year and a half. My first surgery was on June 19th of 2020 and my second surgery was on August 3rd of 2021. I have made a full recovery and am back performing at 100%!
I am so fortunate to announce that I have signed with Jacksonville University to continue my academic and athletic career for the next four years!
