Sophia Gonzales '25 Recruiting Profile

Hi my name is Sophia Gonzales! I am a 2025 defensive/attacking midfielder playing for Socal Elite G07 DPL and John W North High School in Riverside, California. I've been playing soccer my entire life and hope to continue doing so throughout my college career. Soccer has been my passion for twelve years, and I'm always looking to challenge myself and improve in a competitive environment. 

I am going into my fourth year as a Varsity starter and led my high school team in assists both my freshman and sophomore year. I was awarded First Team All-League as a sophomore for my contribution to my school's history-making run to the CIF semi-finals, and in my past Junior season, I was awarded Offensive MVP. This year, my club team and I have clenched the league championship for the second year in a row, having only lost one conference game in the past two seasons. I work hard on and off the field, and I've always prioritized my balanced relationship with academics and soccer. I've been surrounded by educators my whole life so I'm hoping to work in public service. I love interacting with people and collaborating on work projects, and I'm interested in majoring in Psychology or Kinesiology. 

I'm looking for a school that prioritizes commitment on the field and in the classroom the same way I do, along with a competitive group of women who are dedicated to building each other up in all aspects of life. I thrive in a competitive environment and am always looking for ways to improve my skills. I'm often complimented on my ability to see the field and read the plays in front of me. I'm excited to go into my senior year with all my teammates and continue to improve alongside them!
