Personal Statement
Ever since I was little, sports have been a part of my life. From tennis to baseball, lacrosse, basketball, and soccer, I have always enjoyed being on a field and playing sports. Sports has been what defined me as a person. However in the first couple days of my seventh grade year I broke my leg in a soccer game. I was out for about six months and was devastated that I could not play the sports that I love. However coming back from a injury like that pushed me to become a better player and work even harder than ever. I worked all summer to recover and come back strong and finally tried out for my high school varsity soccer team as an eighth-grader and made it.
My name is Alana Frederick and I am currently a sophomore at Sacred Heart Greenwich where I have played varsity soccer, basketball, and track since freshman year, with the exception of soccer, which I have played on varsity since 8th grade. Although I am a three-sport athlete my main focus is on soccer, with the goal to someday play it collegiately. Outside of school, I play for Connecticut Football Club (CFC). For my club team, I play right or left forward and attacking midfield. and sometimes center forward or defense if I am needed there. For my school team, I am an attacking midfielder. I am a strong student and take my studies very seriously. I have always had a passion for science and art which has made me interested in possibly pursuing a field in engineering or architecture. Although I am also very interested in Sports Medicine, Veterinary Science, and Psychology. My goal is to find a college that is strong academically and one that can offer me a least a couple of my interests, and on top of that have a competitive soccer program where I can have fun and push myself to become a better athlete.
