My name is Emma Payne and I am currently a 17 year old Senior at Athens High School.
As much as I would love to emphasize on how amazing my High School soccer career has been, it is a difficult situation to say the least. Due to the circumstances that we all have faced, mine, like many others, wasn't quite the picture perfect scenario . Although I did start Varsity and was awarded the best new player award my freshman year, my sophomore season was realistically unachievable. My Junior season was far better than I had ever imagined, and I was awarded 1st Team All Conference. Between our team's stats and my Team Captain Title, it was just what I was needing to well suit my High School soccer path and beyond.
I am beyond grateful for the time spent on the field with my team and am extremely excited to start another season this Spring. The silver lining during this difficult time, is the fact that I have learned to take advantage of the long off season and have focused on striving physically and mentally for myself and my teammates.
It may be difficult to look past 2020, but I am eagerly anticipating the future. I look forward to achieving my foreseeable goals academically by obtaining an Allied Health major, as well as continuing my soccer journey. I believe that I am, and will be, a strong asset to your team. I am looking forward to studying hard and playing even harder on the field.
