Hi Coaches! My name is Annika and I come from a big, blended family! I have 1 biological sibling and then 6 step-siblings that range from ages 5-19, and I am third oldest in the lineup. Growing up with lots of siblings has taught me numerous life skills. I definitely see the parallels in being in a big family as I do on a soccer team. Learning to adapt to other situations, personalities and needs of others is key. It's important to be able to support family members, just like teammates, but then be able to rebound and come back to everyone as a whole.
As a goalkeeper, I like being able to see the whole field and see all of the players. I love seeing plays develop and having a different point of view compared to when I used to play defense. I really enjoy the sport all around and have invested a lot of time and energy into soccer. I've met so many different people that have had great experiences in their life and opportunities thanks to soccer, and I want that for myself. I have a constant communication with my team, be it verbal or non-verbal. I aim to bring a ton of support to my team and want to be the person that others can come to on or off the field, no matter what. I like to invite teammates to go get ice cream or go hang out together so we can reset and bring it back together after a hard game or practice. Laughter is a great tool and I like making my teammates laugh.
Overall, I am very organized with good time-management. If I need help with something, I have gotten better at asking for help with studying or a certain topic. I always do my absolute best to do something to the best of my ability, and that is important to me in all aspects of my life. I'm still looking and trying to figure out what I want to do as a career, but I do know that I'm interested in medicine, first responders, criminal justice and business. I would say my top values in life are loyalty, honesty, service to others, and competing.
