Thank you for your time and interest. My name is Veronica White and I am in the class of 2023 at Hopkinton High School. Achieving success is a long process, but perseverance is something I take great pride in to help me reach my goals. Following in my mother's footsteps, I always set the bar high. My love of soccer began at the age of four, and I enjoyed everything about the sport. Throughout my soccer career, I made deliberate decisions to grow from setbacks, rather than allow them to hinder reaching new goals. Improving my skills is a neverending process, and I deeply understand the meaning of hard work and determination. The field has become my second home through practice, clinics, and camps. My devotion paid off as I ensured a place on the middle school team, where my love of defending was born. As a Freshman, I was selected for an experienced Junior Varsity team. All season I tried to gain as much strategic knowledge as possible. Throughout the following post-season, I worked with a personal trainer to strengthen my foot skills, endurance, agility, and speed.
I am very proud of my work ethic. This summer, I waitressed full-time at a popular restaurant on Cape Cod while I trained on my own in my spare time to improve fitness. The job helped me develop interpersonal skills and made me more disciplined. At the young age of 15, I learned the meaning of responsibility and accountability. I earned the deep respect of college girls and they treated me like their equal. These traits transferred to the field. For the Fall of 2020, I was one of only three sophomores called up for Varsity tryouts. Despite giving my all, I remained on JV but I turned this experience into a positive one. I took advantage of the extra playing time to develop awareness at Center Back and demonstrate leadership skills. Now, as part of the NEFC family, I really understand why team success is more important than my own success.
Leading by example, I demonstrate composure and calmness under pressure. My teammates trust that I "have their back." They look to me and they know I am here for them. I believe in providing positive encouragement to my team, especially during games. As a B+ student with a passion for learning, I am always trying to improve my standing in the classroom. Off the field, I volunteer for my church and deliver flowers in support of my mother's small business to help brighten the lives of others. I look forward to improving my strengths and focusing on my areas of improvement, both on and off the field, during my college career.
