Personal Statement

Hi, I’m Tatum — a ’27 goalkeeper who’s been chasing adrenaline and big moments since I was little

I was the 5 yr. old kid who rode the wildest roller coasters with my eyes wide open, arms in the air, screaming “Awesome!” the whole ride. That same fearless energy is what I bring to the pitch — diving into saves, leading from the back, putting my body on the line. I live for the game and never back down.

Known for my technical skill, aggressive play, fast-twitch reactions, and shot-stopping ability. I was selected 3x to the Missouri ODP State Team and Region ID/Pool. As a freshman varsity starter, I helped Whitfield earn 3rd in the Missouri State Championship. I’ve climbed from NPL to DPL to Girls Academy, and this fall I’m stepping into ECNL with Missouri Rush 08/07. Every level has pushed me to grow — I’m coachable, hungry, and always leveling up.

This year was a breakthrough. Across 10 high-stakes games in the Girls Academy Champions Cup Qualifiers & Finals as well as the Spring Showcase, I allowed just two goals, posted a 95% save rate, and hit a personal-best 0.304 GAA. I made clutch PK saves to help win games at both Champions Cup and the Youth World Cup — moments that fueled my love for the game even more.

My leadership shines under pressure.  Internationally, I helped FCNE earn bronze at the 2025 Gothia Youth World Cup (3rd of 72 teams), posting the longest clean sheet streak in the U16 bracket through the quarterfinals, with a 96% save percentage, topping my personal best with a 0.209 GAA. In 2023, I captained the DPL International All-Star Team to wins over Reading FC, Aston Villa, and Chelsea, earning two clean sheets. On the Dutch Soccer Tour, I played seven matches against top academies, finishing 4-1-2 with 94 saves.  As a dual US & German citizen, I’m excited to compete and connect across cultures.

I’ve had setbacks too. For example, during my freshman varsity season, I broke my arm and couldn’t play in goal. Not missing a single practice or game, I trained hard, improved my field skills, and earned a starting spot as a field player in the State playoffs. That experience made me tougher, more versatile, and more determined. When I miss my gloves, I come back stronger.

Off the field, I maintain a 3.9 GPA at a college prep high school and was selected for a year-long Advanced STEM Research program. My project explores how architectural design can improve the environment, and there’s potential for real-world implementation. This year, I’ll be taking AP Chemistry and Accelerated Physics to support my goal of studying Environmental Science or Architecture in college. I want to design systems that help heal the planet — and leave the world better than I found it.

I want to go to an academic and athletically competitive program.  I like working with well-prepared coaches and teammates who want to get a lot out of each practice.  I am looking for an experience in college that will help me grow as a person and a leader, working with coaches who take the time to get to know me and who will challenge me.

I’m all in — for the game, the grind, and the journey ahead.

  • Goalkeeper for Lou Fusz GA 09 - Girls Academy team - Champions Cup. At CC qualifiers & CC finals, as well as the Spring showcase, I feel I demonstrated my ability to play in high-pressure environments, and my contributions helped the team as we faced more intense competition. I let in only two goals against in those 10 games, had a save percentage of 95%, and even made a PK save in the final game of the CC Finals to contribute to the win. My goals against average went down to an all-time low of .304 across those games.

In total we played 34 games in total between the Mid-West Conference and the DPL League - Frontier Conference. I am super proud of our team chemistry and our level of play. We went to Nationals and although we did not get out of our Super Group pool, it was a great experience - facing intense offensive pressure. Training

  • 314 Goalkeeping Academy
  • 3 years
  • I choose to do extra training with the Sr. Elite group on the weekends when I don't have a game conflict. I train mainly with 16, 17, and 18 year old boys. It pushes me hard and I can see the improvement it makes in my game.
  • Blue Star & Academy Goalie Training
  • 4 years
  • I train with the other top goalies in my club program as often as I can, usually two times per week.
  • Dynasty Goalkeeping Academy
  • 3 years
  • I traveled to North Carolina to train with Tracy Noonan who trains elite female goalkeepers in middle school and high school. She was a National Team goalie and I learn so much from her. I became a soccer referee at the age of 13 so I could save up my money and pay for her training camps or private sessions once a year.
  • STL Goalkeeping Academy
  • 1 year
  • I trained with Coach Brian Jones with STL Goalkeeping Academy with his junior elite group and anytime he comes back to town from South Carolina where he is now the goalkeeper coach for their MLS team.
