Hello, my name is Alexa Murawski, a rising senior at West Morris Central High School in New Jersey. I am a 2023 winger and currently play for NJ Nationals FC competing in the USYS National League. I am very focused on playing soccer in college for an academically notable school that has a strong women's program. Soccer is in my blood as my dad played D1 at Lafayette College. I have been playing soccer all my life, but I knew I wanted to play college soccer in my freshman year during my high school season. We had practice every day after school for 2+ hours and on the weekends, we had to wake up at 6 am to get an early practice in. While my teammates complained about this, I was overjoyed by these practices because I love to compete. Every day in the fall, I would look forward to playing with my best friends that day, and this continued into my club season. Playing soccer made me develop a strong work ethic which I apply to everything in my life. I would love to continue my soccer career at the collegiate level.
I am leaning toward a medium to large school as I have an outgoing personality that thrives on being around people and I appreciate the wide range of academic choices and student activities that are included in such a school. However, I wouldn't write off a smaller school as I like a sense of a tight community. One thing is for certain, I am looking for a school on the east coast to stay relatively close to family. I would be happy to go south for a warmer climate and a new culture or to stay north in my familiar surroundings.
As a winger, my strengths include being fast, explosive off the ball, and quick and technical with my feet. Additionally, I have a good work rate and am crafty on the ball. My past experience in center mid has also given me great vision on and off the ball. As well as being strong in attacking, I am also a solid 1 v 1 defender and good at delaying players until they make a mistake.
Overall, soccer is a huge part of my life that I would love to continue into college as it motivates me in every aspect of my life.
