My name is Leah Duba and I would like to tell you a little big about myself. People on my soccer team call me Dubes and Duba. In sixth grade, I earned Principal's List for all marking periods. In 7th grade, I earned Honor Roll for all marking periods, and this year I earned Principal's List for the first marking period. This year I have also been nominated for the National Juniors Honors Society. My soccer journey started when I was 3 years old. Then when I was eight, I tried out and made our town's travel team, Cinnaminson Storm. Two years later, I switched teams to a more competitive club team named South Jersey Elite Barrons. I played with them for 3 years. Then just recently after the fall season of 2021, I joined Rancocas Valley Soccer Club, and I am currently playing with them now. When I was 12 years, old I got cut from South Jersey Elite Barrons. I was on their EDP team. I was disappointed because I thought I was playing great and didn't deserve this. However, that did not stop me. In fact, that told me to work even harder and never give up. That experience was tough to go through, but it taught me life lessons that have brought me to my success today. On Rancocas Valley, I am a starter at outside mid. I get a lot of playing time and sometimes, I even play the whole half. Sometimes, my coach will switch me to attacking center mid. I have been Captain multiple times. Even when I'm not captain, I still help my teammates and I am a leader. In the fall of 2023 I will be joining a new team, Match Fit Mercer 2009 Blue. I am really excited to start this new chapter of my soccer journey because it is a higher level than what I play at now. In the fall we are going USYS Premier 1 and USYS Elite 64.
As far as what I want to study in college, I have always wanted to be a physical therapist. After I broke my patella, I had to go to physical therapy and my physical therapist inspired me to want to help student athletes get back to what they love after an injury. I would also like a side job such as a personal or team trainer. We have a team trainer for my Rancocas Valley Soccer team, and I really love the way she motivates us to want to get better and healthier. I want to do that and help teens get fitter. So when I go to college, I plan on studying Exercise Science or Sports Medicine. Thank you for taking the time to read this, please feel free to reach out with my email [email protected]
